Hearing on sick days to take place this month
COLUMBUS (AP) — A hearing on legislation that would guarantee most Ohio workers sick days will take place within the month, Speaker Jon Husted said Tuesday.
Ohioans for Healthy Families, a group of unions and advocacy groups for the poor, proposed the legislation in January and under Ohio law, the Legislature has four months to act on it.
Husted, a suburban Dayton Republican, said a hearing would occur before the May 8 deadline.
If the Legislature takes no action, backers would have 90 days to collect 120,683 valid signatures of Ohio voters — 3 percent of the total vote in the 2006 election for governor — to place the issue on the November ballot.
