Authorities investigate Cortland crossbow death

CORTLAND – Police believe a 40-year-old man used a crossbow to commit suicide.

The department said the man’s wife left their Greenbriar Drive home to get gasoline. When she returned home about 2 p.m. Monday, she found him dead in the back yard. It appeared, the department said, that he turned the crossbow around and shot himself. An autopsy was performed Tuesday.
