AUSTINTOWN — Police are investigating a weekend shooting that left a 22-year-old Youngstown man dead.

Police were called about 10 p.m. Friday to the 4600 block of Burkey Road on a report of an accidental shooting.

When an officer arrived, he found the homeowner, 49, with blood covering his hands, in a hallway of the home. The homeowner pointed down the hall where police found Randy Davis of Oneta Avenue, lying on his back with a handgun about a foot away. Davis had a gunshot wound to his forehead, a police report said.

Lt. Robert Schaeffer said the investigation is in its preliminary stages and police are talking with the Mahoning County coroner’s and prosecutor’s offices. No charges have been filed.
