Mercer County sentencings


MERCER, Pa. – The following people were sentenced this week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. Case details are based on court documents:

Miles Clinkscale, 17, formerly of Auburndale Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, and now of the Mercer County Jail, was sentenced to six to 15 years in prison in connection with a drive-by shooting in Farrell on June 19, 2007. He was also ordered to make restitution for damage done to a home and was given credit for 280 days already served. Clinkscale pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and unlicensed possession of a firearm, both felonies. Clinkscale was one of three men who got out of a car at Hamilton Avenue and Idaho Street and fired shots at a man. No one was injured, although the gunshots damaged a house. Several other people, including children, were in the area at the time.

Kevin Clover, 27, of Hamilton Street, Campbell, Ohio, was sentenced to 10 days to one year in jail for conspiracy/theft by deception, a misdemeanor. He was given credit for 10 days already served. Clover returned merchandise to Wal-Mart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, on Nov. 16, 2006, although he had not purchased it there and tried to obtain a cash refund by using a discarded sales receipt.

Justin Eastlick, 20, of 12th Street, Greenville, was sentenced to 29 days to a year in jail for simple assault, a misdemeanor. On May 27, 2007, he knocked a woman to the ground, then held her down and continued to strike her at his residence.

Allan Gruesman, 37, of Burghill, Ohio, was sentenced to one month to one year in jail for theft by deception, a misdemeanor. While he was employed at the Quality Inn, 3200 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, from December 2005 to November 2006, he stole four customers’ cash payments totaling $591 for rooms and concealed the thefts by using other customers’ credit card accounts to pay for the rooms. He also made out six business checks belonging to Star Properties Inc. to himself and cashed them for $370.

Tommy Colson, 56, of Thomas Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to four months to 2 1/2 years in jail and fined $300 for recklessly endangering another person and retail theft. He stole $46 worth of cat food from Wal-Mart. When a store employee confronted him in the parking lot, he put his vehicle into reverse gear, forcing the employee to move in order to avoid being struck.

Darlene Perrine, 48, of Old Ash Road, Volant, was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail followed by five years’ probation for felony aggravated assault. On March 1, 2007, she stabbed an ex-boyfriend twice in the back with a kitchen knife at a North Perry Highway, Coolspring Township, residence. The victim required emergency treatment and was hospitalized.

Elizabeth Budetich, 49, of Alderman Avenue, Sharon, was placed on two years’ probation and ordered to pay restitution for retail theft and bad checks, both misdemeanors. Budetich stole $217 worth of clothing May 1, 2007, from Wal-Mart and wrote a bad check for $2,205 to Phil’s Auto Sales, 405 Walnut Street, Sharon.

John Colello, 64, of East State Street, Sharon, was placed on 364 days’ probation and ordered to make restitution for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Beginning in May 2004, he harassed two people. This included breaking a car window, sending letters claiming they had robbed him, walking by their house and sneering at them, and posting signs in the South Oakland and Fifth Avenue areas calling them names.

Franklin Moore, 25, of Windsor, Pa., was sentenced to three to 24 months in the state correctional institute for theft by taking/disposition. He took a woman’s purse with $150 worth of contents from Giant Eagle, 2365 E. State St., Hermitage.

Thomas Morgan, 45, formerly of Baldwin Avenue, Sharon, and now of the Mercer County Jail, was sentenced to 59 to 119 days in jail and placed on two years’ probation for receiving stolen property, two counts of theft by deception, and attempted theft by deception, all misdemeanors. He was apprehended June 7, 2006, with a stolen umbrella table and five chairs at his home. On Sept. 29, 2007, he also passed counterfeit $5 bills at J.J.’s Lighthouse, 971Division Street, Sharon and Tony’s Bar, 630 Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon.

Carl Porterfield, 31, of Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, was placed on one year’s probation for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. On June 25, 2007, Porterfield grabbed a woman’s throat and squeezed it at an East Connelly Boulevard, Sharon, address.

Kyle Hutchison, 21, of Mesabi Street, Sharon, was placed on six months’ probation for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. On Aug. 18, 2007, he fired a rifle in the air from the rear porch area of his home.

Janice Chatman, 28, of Wallis Avenue, Sharon, was placed on 12 months’ probation and ordered to make restitution for misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking. She took a necklace and two bracelets valued at a total of $1,500 belonging to a Sharon woman.
