Women’s health event
YOUNGSTOWN — The St. Elizabeth Health Center Breast Care Advisory Board will have its seventh annual Women’s Health Night from 4:30-8:30 p.m. April 23 at the Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Ave.

Girard center extends its hours of operation
GIRARD — The Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., has extended its service hours. The fitness room is now open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The computer cafe is open to adults and to children under 10 accompanied by an adult or older sibling from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. National Public Health Day
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown City Health District is celebrating National Public Health Day on Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its offices at Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave. Offered are free blood pressure screenings and testing for tuberculosis, blood sugar and cholesterol. Fasting for eight hours is recommended for the blood sugar and cholesterol tests.
YMCA Healthy Kids day

Wound care clinic opens
ALLIANCE — On April 21, Alliance Community Hospital will begin treating patients at its new Wound Care Advantage‚Ñ¢ program on the ACH campus, 120 E. State St.
The ACH Wound Care Advantage‚Ñ¢ is an outpatient clinic treating nonhealing wounds, offering a multidisciplinary approach to healing that includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy, officials said. Dr. Paul Hudzik is the medical director.
Pottery class planned
VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will present “Hand Built Pottery: from Earth to our Hands” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12. The workshop will be led by Lynn Cardwll, who has a studio in the Ward Bakery Building in Youngstown.
Participants will take an outdoor walk to explore locations where clay is found at Villa Maria then return to the Art House to create a hand-built pottery piece using pinching, coiling and/or slab methods.
