ABWA chapter honors Poprik
YOUNGSTOWN — Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association honored Marianne Poprik of Boardman as its Woman of the Year during a meeting March 11.
Poprik joined the organization in November 1998 and has served as secretary of the board, chairman of the anniversary and program committee and a member of numerous other committees. She is the editor of the chapter’s monthly newsletter, Mill Creek Messenger.
In October, Poprik will represent Mill Creek Chapter as a voting delegate at the 66th National Conference in Covington, Ky., where she and other Woman of the Year honorees will be recognized at a luncheon.
In addition to her affiliation with ABWA, Poprik is a member of the executive board of the Polish Arts Club, a member of an American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team, president of AT&T Telecom Pioneers and a member of St. Dominic Church.
Poprik attended Youngstown State University and was employed 32 years by Ohio Bell/Verizon prior to retiring. Her family includes a son, Jeffrey Poprik of West Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Chris May of Boardman; and two grandchildren, Carter and Aidan May.
ABWA is a national association dedicated to providing businesswomen of diverse occupations with opportunities to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.
