Springfield rolls, remains unbeaten

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Brad Ferraro went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Springfield High to a 10-1 baseball victory over Chaney Thursday.
Dylon DeJane went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Bryan Visingardi was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Springfield (3-0). Jake Wetzel struck out five and walked three over five innings to get the win, while Matt Chott (three strikeouts) and Ferraro (two strikeouts) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
For Chaney (0-1), Zack Domkowski was 2-for-3 and Victor Cardarelli doubled and drove in a run.
Canfield 6, Warren Harding 1
WARREN — Marc Carrocce walked three times, stole three bases and scored a run for Canfield (1-0), while Tom Cheslik had a RBI double. Junior Jared Turocy started and struck out four over five innings, giving up one run. Andrew Zunic struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief.
Fitch 7, Lakeview 5
AUSTINTOWN — Jason Bagoly hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Fitch rallied from a two-run deficit to win.
Nick Wiery had two hits, including a double, and scored twice for the Falcons (1-0), who scored two runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. With two outs in the fifth, winning pitcher Jim Kinnick doubled and Mike Olenych was hit by a pitch. Both runners then scored on an error.
Kevin Cox had a double for Lakeview (1-1).
Boardman 6, Liberty 1
BOARDMAN — Senior right-hander Joe Strawinski had 10 strikeouts over four complete innings, while senior Mike Popio went 3-for-4 for the Spartans, now 2-0 after a 10-0 win over Howland on Wednesday.
Kyle Conway had a double, while Justin Machamer and P.J. Finley had the only hits for the Leopards (0-1).
Hubbard 6, Niles 4
NILES — After taking a 4-3 lead, sophomore Tim Schiraldi’s double knocked in Matt Shelton and Todd Gasior in the top of the fourth to put Hubbard (1-0) ahead.
Schiraldi also had a single and two RBIs in the Eagles’ opener.
Mike Livi’s double and two RBIs paced Niles (0-1).
McDonald 10, Wellsville 0
STRUTHERS — Sophomore Anthony Raschilla pitched a six-inning no-hitter, striking out eight with one walk, to lead McDonald in an Inter Tri-County League Tier Two game.
Raschilla also had three hits and scored twice for the Blue Devils (2-0). Mike Gatta, Mike Thomas and Anthony Fossacecca each added two hits.
Columbiana 7, United 4
HANOVERTON — Josh Saverko had two hits and three RBIs, including a two-run single in the seventh inning, to lead Columbiana (1-2).
Josh Weikart and Tyler Dejong limited United (2-1) to three hits.
Sebring 3, Lowellville 0
STRUTHERS — Allan Jurica pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking one, to lead Sebring (1-1). Brett Mitzel and Zach Tieche each went 3-for-3 for the Trojans, while Steven Rastetter had two hits.
Vince Travaline had a double for Lowellville (1-1).
East Palestine 5, Crestview 4
EAST PALESTINE — Pat Buckley went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Bryan Soldo had two hits and Matt Greene doubled and drove in two for East Palestine (2-0, 2-0 ITCL Tier One).
Corey Hill had an RBI single for Crestview (0-2, 0-2).
Champion 10, Mathews 3
VIENNA — Joe Cvengros and Andrew Beachy had three hits apiece, while Nathan King had a pair of hits for the Golden Flashes.
Senior Luke Weymer had two hits for Mathews.
Badger 11, Girard 1
GIRARD — Marcus Heath had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead Badger, while Brad Bates struck out seven to get the win.
Marty Brinker doubled for Girard, while Cory Stevens struck out eight over 31‚Ñ3 innings of relief.
