Ticketmaster will soon handle Chevy Centre ticket sales

YOUNGSTOWN —The city’s board of control is expected Friday to approve a five-year contract with Ticketmaster, the nation’s largest ticketing agency, to handle ticketing responsibilities for the Chevrolet Centre.

Officials with the city and Ticketmaster signed a letter of intent with a final contract subject to approval by the city’s law department.

Ticketmaster was among nine companies that submitted proposals two weeks ago to be the ticketing agency for the city-owned Chevrolet Centre.

Ticketmaster is based in West Hollywood, Calif., with nearby offices in Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Ticketmaster’s proposal estimates it will sell 80,000 tickets for center events in its first 12 months with annual increases of 3 percent in sales.

Ticketmaster will replace GetTix.Net, the Tempe, Ariz., company that has handled the center’s ticketing since the facility opened in October 2005.
