YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University’s listener-supported public radio, WYSU 88.5 FM, is beginning a pledge drive that will run from Friday through April 11 to raise $100,000.
Those pledging support of the station as a new member, a renewing member or with an additional gift, will be entered in a drawing to win a pair of tickets for a WYSU-sponsored 13-day Fables of Ancient Greece tour, valued at $6,000. The package includes visits to the Acropolis of Athens, the ruins of the Parthenon, the Temple of Apollo at Delphi and the Temple of Athena Nike.
During the drive, the station also will offer new HD digital radios as daily prizes.

Class plans breakfast for benefit of Caleb Cope
COLUMBIANA — Crestview Middle School Class of 2012 is sponsoring a benefit breakfast for friend and classmate Caleb Cope, who was hurt last year in a golf cart accident. The family needs to make renovations at home to be able to care for Caleb.
The pancake breakfast will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. Friday in the middle school cafeteria, 44100 Crestview Road. There will also be a basket raffle and auction. For more information, call (330) 482-3091.
Black Student Union to host fashion show
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — The Black Student Union at Westminster College will host its second Spring Fashion Extravaganza at 8 p.m. April 12 at Orr Auditorium.
Tickets will be available at the door and are $2 for the general public and $1 for Westminster students and children under 12. Proceeds will benefit BSU’s Kids Fund, which provides Christmas gifts for “adopted” children and their families.
Reesha Jackson of Pittsburgh, a junior biochemistry major, is directing the show, and assistant directors are sociology-criminal justice majors Alexis Harris of Youngstown, a senior, and Tra-Linn Scott of Pittsburgh, a sophomore. Host duties are shared by MacArthur Mosely of Pittsburgh and Terrence Phelps of Youngstown, senior business administration majors.
Heavenly trash on sale
WARREN — Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. N.E., will have a Heavenly Trash and Treasure Sale on Friday and Saturday.
Doors open for early birds from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, and the sale will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours on Saturday will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $1-a-bag sale beginning at noon. A bake sale will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, and lunch will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Chorus to present concert after dinner
AUSTINTOWN — The Concordia Chorus of Youngstown Saxon Club will have its annual Night in Vienna on April 26 in the ballroom at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.
The event will feature a schnitzel dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by a musical program, which will include a number of Viennese songs, directed by Sarah Phillips. Music for dancing will be by John Gabriele.

Boy Scout Troop 22 to celebrate anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN — Boy Scout Troop 22 will observe its 50th anniversary April 19 at St. Christine Parish Center, 3165 S. Schenley Ave.
Monsignor David Rhodes will celebrate a Divine Liturgy at 4 p.m., and a dinner will be served at 5. Afterward there will be a special Eagle Scout rededication ceremony attended by Lord Robert Baden Powell, a founder of scouting.

Troop 22 was organized in April 1958 and chartered to St. Christine Church, with John Wunderle as Scoutmaster and the Rev. Gordon Gutman as sponsoring executive. Edward Higgins was the first member of the troop to attain Eagle Scout status on Dec. 7, 1961. There are 45 Eagle Scouts in the troop, which meets at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the parish center. Sweely is Scoutmaster, and Monsignor Rhodes is sponsoring executive.
Chaney Baseball Club spaghetti dinner set
YOUNGSTOWN — Chaney Baseball Club is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Francisan Friary Shrine of Our Lady, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave.
