“A lot of the guys in our band grew up on the music of Parliament/Funkadelic” says Maurice Martin of the band Winslow. “When we found out we had a chance to work with Bernie Worrell, we jumped at it.” The Parliament member helped the soulful Kent-based band record songs for its debut CD, “Crazy Kind of Love,” which was released last month. Winslow returns to Barleys, 21 W. Federal St., downtown, for a 9 p.m. show that will also feature singer-songwriter J.D. Eicher and The Devotees.
Skating Club of Greater Youngstown will present its annual spring ice skating show, “Classics On Ice,” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Chevrolet Centre with a free one-hour skate after the show. A cast of more than 75 local skaters ranging from national medalists to young beginners will perform to classic rock and Broadway music. The club’s synchronized skating teams will also perform. Tickets are $18 at the door. The post-show skate will include free skate rentals and free lessons.
Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and its conductor, Randall Craig Fleischer, will be joined by guest narrator Heidi Joyce in a special family concert at 3 p.m. in Ford Family Recital Hall. Titled “Symphony Under Construction,” the concert will define the elements of composition — melody, harmony, form — in a program that will allow the audience to compose a symphony.
