April Fool’s joke story
April Fool’s joke
My April Fool’s story happened some years ago. My wife and three children used it on me and I, in turn, pulled a similar joke on my co-workers.
My daughter was born on April 1. My wife used this to set the trap. She said she wanted everyone to have breakfast including me, since I normally don’t do breakfast.
I had to at least sit down and have my coffee “with the kids!” Well, before I got to the table, my children had switched the sugar — I always took 2 teaspoons in my coffee — to salt!
I don’t need to tell you what happened next. I took a gulp of my coffee being in a hurry to get out the door to work. Everyone fell on the floor laughing at the look on my face!
At work, I decided to try the same trick, except I went one step further. I replaced the sugar with salt and the powdered cream to flour in both containers in our employee lunchroom.
I watched as some of my co-workers came in and tried to have coffee. At one point, one of them remade two fresh pots of coffee thinking the problem was in the coffee. He only took cream in his coffee, and when it didn’t mix, he thought the coffee was bad! I watched him attempt this TWICE!!!
Finally, one of our supervisors opened the containers and found a note taped to the inside of the lid. It read: “Ha! Ha! April Fool”.
As fate would have it, I had signed that particular supervisor’s name to the note. He then called a company meeting threatening to discipline “the person who had pulled such a childish prank.” It was years later, and several drinks later one night when I was leaving the company, before I finally decided to tell anyone!
Since that day, I always check the cream and sugar on April 1st!
