S. Side man charged with murder surrenders to police today
YOUNGSTOWN — Reginald Everson, the man charged with a homicide Sunday on the city’s South Side, surrendered to Detective Sgt. Ramon Cox at 1 p.m. today.
Everson, 21, who listed a West Chalmers Avenue address, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Terrell Roland of East Avondale Avenue. Roland was shot twice in his driveway Sunday afternoon and died that night at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Everson arranged through his lawyer, Samuel G. Amendolara, to surrender to police. Police handcuffed him and took him to the Mahoning County Jail. Everson pulled up a black hoodie to cover his face as he left the police department’s detective division.
His arraignment is Wednesday in municipal court. Everson has been out of jail on a $15,000 bond since July 2007. He is charged with aggravated robbery in a case that involves the shooting death of an Auto Zone store clerk on the city’s East Side in May 2006. Two other men are charged with murder in that crime.
