Yo. Christian, Warren JFK win


Randy Triplett and Jared Province had big games for the winners.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS — Randy Triplett scored a touchdown on a 25-yard run to lead Youngstown Christian to a 21-6 victory over Lutheran East in an East Suburban Conference game Saturday.

Triplett also threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Tolo Oshonowo.

Dante Yanno scored Youngstown Christian’s other TD on a 65-yard pass while Ed Gonda kicked three extra points.

Triplett completed six of 11 passes for 100 yards and added 44 yards rushing in 15 carries. Victor Shaw caught three passes for 15 yards. Josh Bell also had an interception for Youngstown Christian (3-2, 2-1 ESC).

Quintin McKenzie scored Lutheran East’s only TD on a 38-yard pass from Otis Simmons. Lutheran East (1-5, 1-1 ESC) wound up with 7-for-15 passing for 84 yards and two interceptions.

Kennedy Catholic 20

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Jared Province rushed four times for four touchdowns to lead Warren JFK.

Province scored touchdowns of 25, 10, 36 and 6 yards as Warren JFK jumped out to a 50-0 lead at halftime.

James Howard returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown. Also scoring for Warren JFK were Vince Mikula, Kimani Booner and Anthony Angelo.

In this week’s computer playoff ratings, Warren JFK (4-2) is the number-five team of Division VI Region 21.

For Kennedy Catholic (0-4), Mike Furey scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run.

Ron Elebie scored on runs of 4 and 5 yards.

Kent Roosevelt 27

KENT — Chad Eatinger of the Pirates (3-3, 2-1) rushed for 126 yards on 26 carries, which included touchdown runs of 1 and 4 yards and he also caught a 35-yard TD pass from Alex Blake in Friday’s Portage Trail Conference game.

Kent Roosevelt (0-6, 0-3) led 20-14 at halftime, but the Pirates bounced back to take a 27-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Southeast had 462 total yards of offense and Kent Roosevelt 372.
