CHESTER, W.Va. — Tony Trolio of Poland, Ohio, has been hired by S.A.B. Enterprises of Avon, Ohio, to chair the inaugural Italian-American Fall Italian Festival, Oct. 19-21 at October 19, 20,& 21st, at Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Casino.
Trolio has promoted Italian festivals and dinner shows in Youngstown for decades. He currently is chairman of the Mount Carmel Italian Festival.
Scheduled at the Mountaineer festival are Tony Ieluzzi of Canada; Cleveland’s Avanti Showband, Carmelina and The Masquerade Band; Mirella Volpe and the Capri Band, of Pittsburgh; and Youngstown’s Frankie Gallo, Rocky Chirchiglia and the Jim Frank Trio.
More than a dozen food vendors and numerous craft vendors will be at the festival, and there is room for more. Admission is $5 and parking is free. The event will be held indoors at The Harv arena.

Area children will dance
‘Nutcracker’ at Powers
YOUNGSTOWN — A few dozen Youngstown-area children will dance in Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” production at Powers Auditorium Dec. 6. For tickets, call the Powers box office at (330) 744-0264.
The Moscow Ballet will hold a second children’s audition at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ruth’s Robics & Dance, 5626 South Ave. Applicants must have at least one year ballet experience and be between 7 and young teens. ‘Arthur’ at Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — The Westminster College Celebrity Series will present “Arthur Tricks the Tooth Fairy” at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in Orr Auditorium.
The live theatrical presentation is based upon Marc Brown’s series of children’s books and the Emmy-winning PBS series. Arthur the aardvark and his family and friends go on an adventure that includes special effects and original music.

Butler goes Italian
YOUNGSTOWN — The Italian folk group DisCanto will perform a concert at Butler North, next to the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., at 6 p.m. Oct. 7.
The concert, sponsored by Youngstown State University and the Pacentrano Club, is free to the public.
DisCanto’s music reinterprets the traditional music of Abruzzi and other southern Italian regions through contemporary and traditional instrumentation.
DisCanto’s mission is to keep the cultural patrimony of Abruzzi alive. Much of their material is gathered through research, but the most interesting and rewarding contributions have come from people who have attended DisCanto’s concerts and spoken with the band afterward to share recollections of the music they heard with their families as children.
B.B. King due at Chevy
YOUNGSTOWN — Blues legend B.B. King will perform at Chevrolet Centre at 8 p.m. Nov. 30. Taste of the Town
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The United Way of Lawrence County will host its fourth annual Taste of the Town from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the New Englander banquet hall on Wilmington Road.
The restaurants participating this year include The Crane Room, Mill Street Grille, J.M. Beatrice Foods, Phoebe’s After Five, Giant Eagle, Bruster’s Ice Cream, King’s Family Restaurant, Wal-Mart, Pizza Joe’s, Volant Mill Winery, Flowers N All, Holiday Inn, Hugger Mugger’s and the Winner Institute.
