NORTH LIMA — South Range School District residents will have a chance to discuss proposals for the layout of the new school building during a special meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the board of education office, 11822 South Ave.

Dennis Dunham, school superintendent, said although the special session is for members of the committee reviewing the schematic design of the new building, the meeting is open to the public. It will be one of several meetings that will take place as part of the building project, he noted.

He said the district is in the process of establishing committees to review plans and provide input on the project’s development. Individuals interested in serving on any of the committees should contact Dunham at the superintendent’s office.

“A number of people have expressed interest in helping in this way,” he said. “This is all part of hearing what community members have to say and working together with them on this project.”

During the past several months, Dunham has sent newsletters to district residents and staff keeping them informed of the progress of the project.

Committees

He said committees, made up of school board members, staff, parents, students and interested citizens, will consider design and site development, athletic facilities and community relations and communications, among other topics.

He said one committee will be assigned to specifically look at real estate options and what to do with the district’s school buildings and property now being used.

Earlier this year, district residents approved a 7.9-mill levy to provide funds for the construction of an all-grades building. The district is working with the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission to build the facility on property the district owns along state Route 46 and Green Beaver Road.
