NOTEBOOK \ YSU vs. Missouri State

Nice crowd: The attendance of 19,617 was the sixth best in YSU history at Stambaugh Stadium and only 65 fans short of the fifth best mark of 19,682 which occurred Oct. 16, 1999 against Western Illinois.
Kickoff return: Dominique Barnes’ 37 yard kickoff return for a touchdown certainly wasn’t the longest in YSU history, but it was the first since the 2001 season when Andre Coleman ran one back 89 yards against Lock Haven.
Injury count: The Penguins lost another offensive lineman last week in practice when freshman tackle Stiles O’Brien of Ellwood City, Pa., went down with a season-ending leg injury. He is the third YSU lineman that has been lost for the season joining senior Tyler Booth and senior Matt Kishman.
Defensive leaders: Senior linebacker Jeremiah Wright is making the most of his extra season with the Penguins. After getting a medical redshirt for his fifth year Wright has been outstanding. Saturday he led the Penguins in tackles for the fourth straight game. He finished with 10, including eight solos. The Penguins finished with seven tackles for losses including three by senior Myles Banford and two by junior Mychael Savage.
Up next: The Penguins will go on the road next Saturday for the first time since the season opener. They will travel to meet unbeaten and seventh-ranked Southern Illinois in Carbondale, Ill. The Salukis rolled to a 72-10 victory over Indiana State Saturday in their Gateway opener.
