Softball pitcher signs

BOLIVAR, N.Y. — Jordan Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg High has made a verbal commitment to attend YSU next fall.

“I won’t be signing anything until November,” Ingalls said, “but it feels good to have the decision made.”

Ingalls already holds the New York state record for career strikouts (1,326 with a full season to go).

Asked what steered her to the Penguins, she said, “Everything. It’s only about three hours away, for one. But mainly, it was my campus visit. People always told me, ‘When it’s right, you’ll know.’ Well, everything about Youngstown felt right.”

After winning the Horizon League title and going to the NCAA Regionals in 2006, the Penguins fell off last year, finishing 16-22.

Ingalls’ earned run average during the past two seasons, including 2006, when her Wolverines won the NY State Class C championship, is 0.11.
