Looking for the Great Pumpkin?

GREEN — The 13th annual Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers weigh-off will be Oct. 6 at the Parks Garden Center, 9010 Youngstown-Salem Road.

Organizers hope to squash state and national records. The heaviest pumpkin will be awarded $2,500. Prizes will also be awarded for heaviest watermelon, tomato, muskmelon and field pumpkin, and the longest gourd.

Entries must be received by 9 a.m. The weigh-off will begin at 10 a.m. Exhibits will be displayed until 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The following day, entrants will race pumpkin boats in the “Pumpkin Regatta” at the Parks Garden Center lake from noon to 2:30 p.m.
