Dana Balash, who probably sees as many high school football games as anyone in the Valley, scored a big week 5 to take the overall lead in the contest. Balash won 16 games last weekend and moved into a one-game edge over Joe Scalzo
(13-7 last week) and a two-game margin over
Pete Mollica (16-4) and Tom Williams (who nearly bottomed out at 12-8). Scalzo, who has won this
contest a gazillion years in a row, responded to losing the lead by refusing to speak to anyone. (He also tried to hold his breath, then realized he couldn’t eat his wedding soup.) Sports editor Rob Todor also bottomed out at 12-8 and decided he didn’t want to be any part of a Scalzo-Williams
led plot to abduct Balash every Friday the rest
of the season. Be sure to check out more Pigskin Pick ’Ems online at Vindy.com.
