Symphony to get $26K
COLUMBUS — The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra will get $26,000 as part of a settlement with music manufacturers. The funds must be used to expand music education programs, according to Attorney General Marc Dann. Six other orchestras in the state also received $26,000: Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo.
The money stems from a recent decision by a federal judge in Maine regarding a 2002 settlement agreement between 43 states and the manufacturers, including Sony, Universal, BMG, Time Warner and Capitol Records.
Photo exhibition
CANFIELD — The Old North Church gallery will host an exhibit of 40 photographs by Stacey Severt from Oct. 1 to Nov. 26. The gallery, at 7105 Herbert Road, is open daily. Call (330) 533-6848 for more information.

YSU student art
NILES — The Art Outreach Gallery in Eastwood Mall will kick off its first juried exhibition Friday, featuring works created by art students from Youngstown State University. The exhibition will run through Nov. 11. A reception will be at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The exhibition will include the work of more than 20 artists.
Jones 4 Revival DVD
YOUNGSTOWN — Jones 4 Revival will release a DVD of the band’s performance at the Vexfest rock festival in August. “Live at Vexfest IV” will be available for $15 Friday at the band’s show at Barley’s on West Federal Street, downtown. Admission is $5. The 18-and-over show begins at 10 p.m. The band will play an extended three-hour set.
Jones 4 Revival will begin recording its debut album Oct. 1.
Rockers release EP
YOUNGSTOWN — You Are The War That I Want has released its first recording, a six-song self titled EP, and will hold a record release concert Friday at Cedar’s Lounge, 23 N. Hazel St., downtown.
Formed in 2005, the band plays a mix of alternative and indie rock, punk and even alt-country at times. Its members are Leonard Glenn Crist, vocals and guitar; Allison Kacmar, bass; Joseph Rafidi II, drums; and Trevor Richards, lead guitar.
Also appearing at Friday’s 18-and-over show, which begins at 11 p.m., will be Death Crazed Teenage Superheroes, and Pittsburgh’s The Fixes.
The Stage returns
YOUNGSTOWN — On Saturday, the Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown, will hold another in its series of eclectic entertainment events it calls The Stage.
The entertainment lineup includes rock band The Zou, Dr. Ray’s Sideshow, comedian Joe Carrabia, singer Angelo LaMarca and more. The Stage will begin with a social hour at 7 p.m., with performances beginning at 8. Admission is $5.
