SPENDING CUTS Youngstown city schools

Carolyn Funk, district treasurer, outlined some $16.6 million in spending cuts made in the past two years to help overcome a general-fund deficit. Major reductions show:

Employee salaries: Reduced $9,681,261 from $54.9 million.

Employee retirement and benefits: Reduced $4,034,737 from $20.9 million.

Purchased services (tuition, utilities, etc.): Reduced $3,084,087 from $34.1 million.
