AUSTINTOWN — More than 180 Soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard’s 838th Military
AUSTINTOWN — More than 180 Soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard’s 838th Military Police Co. will mobilize this month in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The public is invited to the unit’s call-to-duty ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday at Austintown Middle School, 800 S. Raccoon Road. The soldiers will depart for Camp Shelby, Miss., where they will receive training for a yearlong mission. The unit’s past deployments include Operation Desert Storm, 1991; Operation Joint Endeavor, 1995; Operation Noble Eagle, 2002; and base law enforcement operations at Fort Eustis, Va., in 2005.
