“Private Practice” (9 p.m., ABC): The 2007-08 television season begins in earnest this week, including the premiere of perhaps the most anticipated new show of autumn — ABC’s “Private Practice.” The soap opera is a spin-off of “Grey’s Anatomy,” featuring beleaguered Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery (Kate Walsh) in a “post-McDreamy/post-McSteamy” phase. She’s flying the coop from the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital to join a private practice in Los Angeles. “There’s some great stories for that character to tell, and there’s some great places for that character to go. Addison is really interesting and really strong and really smart,” says Shonda Rhimes, who helped create “Practice.” “We wanted to sort of really see her lay in a new setting and see where she would go. It is an ensemble show.” Will we being seeing Addison as her usual strong self or less assured as she was seen near the end of “Grey’s” last season? “That’s sort of the dichotomy there,” says Walsh, “and I think that you see ... a lot of the characters in this show ... have all attained their dream. They are at the apex of their careers. And yet they are sort of a mess, personally.”

“Bionic Woman?” (9 p.m., NBC): Is the world ready for another “Bionic Woman”? This dark remake of the 1970s girl-power hit has Michelle Ryan stepping into the role of Jaime Sommers, the woman who gets a technological makeover after a near-fatal car accident. Thanks to remarkable CGI upgrades, she has the kind of mad skills that would make Lindsay Wagner drool.

“Dirty Sexy Money” (10 p.m., ABC): A lawyer finds his wealthy family is a handful to represent.

“Life” (10 p.m., NBC): A cop (Damian Lewis) gets a secret chance after being wrongly accused of murder.
