Workshop focuses on aging in the Valley
YOUNGSTOWN — A workshop about what changes are coming, what changes are possible and how Mahoning Valley residents can shape their future will be conducted Wednesday at the Jewish Community Center, 517 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. The event is open to all interested.
There is no cost to take part in the workshop, “Creating a Vision for Aging in Mahoning County,” which opens with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. But reservations are required. Call (330) 782-6171.
Co-sponsored by AARP Ohio and the Senior Vision Council of the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way, the workshop is designed to show area professionals, caregivers, community leaders and legislators how they can play a role in guiding community decisions.
Workshop participants will interact with:
UDr. Dan Van Dussen of Youngstown State University, who will discuss the current system of services for aging Ohioans. His talk opens at 9:10 a.m.
U“Livable Communities: What They Are, Why We Should Care and How to Prepare” will be at 10 a.m.
UAt 11 a.m. will be a presentation on “Creating the Change We Want to See: Effective Advocacy Strategies.”
