Crestview ITCL champ again; Rebels win 5-2


Hubbard beat Lakeview and Beaver Local’s girls improved to 12-1-1.

NEW WATERFORD — Crestview High’s boys soccer team won its second consecutive Inter Tri-County League Tier One championship with a 5-2 victory over South Range Monday.

Brian Bechtel led the Rebels (10-1-1, 6-0 ITCL) with two goals. Greg Bing scored a goal and had an assist. Justin Kleinknecht and Nathan Norris added a goal apiece. Norris and Mitchell See had assists.

A.J. Lacefield and Andrew Edwards each scored a goal for the Raiders (4-6-1, 3-3-1). Alex Baker had two assists and Luke Yeagley had 14 saves.

Hubbard 3, Lakeview 1

CORTLAND — Alex Chick had two goals and Greg Orr one goal to lead Hubbard.

Goalie Galen Hayek of the Eagles (8-2-2, 6-0-2 TAC) had 13 saves.

For Lakeview (9-2-1, 6-1), Pete Bielecki had one goal.

JVs: Lakeview 2-1.

Liberty 2, Newton Falls 1

LIBERTY — Matt Britton and Tom Stark each scored a goal for the Leopards (3-6-1, 2-4-1) in the TAC game.

Mike Layshok scored the goal for the Tigers off an assist by Richie Peterson. JVs: Liberty 1-0.

Girls

LISBON — Abby Allen scored two goals as Beaver Local (12-1-1) defeated Springfield 4-1. Alexis Thrasher and Andrea Eisenhart each scored one. Natalie Bowdler had an assist.

Breanne Mincher scored the goal on an assist from Allyson Berry for the Tigers (5-3-1).

The Beavers had 21 shots on goal and the Tigers had 11.

Heather Cozak had 12 saves for the Tigers. Leah Wilson and Missy Headley each had two saves for the Beavers.

Howland 3, Niles 0

NILES — Anna Wall, Gina Albani and Megan Long had goals for Howland (7-0-3, 6-0 Metro Athletic Conference).

Sophomore Jessica Wilson had two assists for the Tigers, who are unscored upon in the league.

Niles goalie Gabby Belcastro had five saves, while Howland goalie Casey Haering had one stop. JVs: Howland 2-0.

Poland 1, Salem 0

SALEM — Taylor Marucci scored the only goal off an assist from Becky Hanna in the first half for the Bulldogs (5-2-2, 4-1-1) in a MAC game.

Poland had 11 shots on goal, while Salem (3-4-2, 1-2-2) had four.

Pam Shure had three saves for Poland and Sarah Conrad had six for the Quakers. JVs: Poland 5-1.

Canfield 10, East Liverpool 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — Audrey Smith had three goals, while Chelsea Kriebel, Noel Fox, Shea Price, Audra Frimpong, Stacey Kunkle, Laura Campolito and Kelly Fening all had one for Canfield (4-5-2, 4-2 MAC).

Gia Nigro had three assists, while Arica LaMagna, Katie Carlisle, Fox and Price had one apiece.

East Liverpool’s Nikole Riley had nine saves, while Canfield goalie Anokha Padubidri had five stops and Fening had four.

Struthers 4, LaBrae 0

STRUTHERS — Ashley Baron had two goals, while Halle Minchin-Skook and Helen Marie Hird had one goal apiece for Struthers (4-4) at Valley Sports.

Dominique Martino, Brittany Stocker and Allison Centofanti had assists.

LaBrae goalie Kelsie Daniel had 11 saves, while Struthers’ Courtney Ekman had three stops.

Boardman 7, Crestwood 1

BOARDMAN — Heather Hughes had two goals and one assist while Jame Avona and Jenn Libby two goals to pace Boardman.

Lea Byers added one goal for the Spartans (8-0-1) while Jessica Winters had three assists.

Boardman goalie Cheyenne Khatib had four saves.

JVs: Boardman 3-0.

Champion 1, Hubbard 1

HUBBARD — In the first half, Champion (6-3-3, 5-0-2 Trumbull Athletic Conference) took the lead when Heather Beachy scored off a pass from Amanda Perry.

The Eagles (5-6-1, 5-2-1) knotted it in the second half when Allison Skebo scored unassisted. JVs: Champion 3-0.

Warren Harding 1

WARREN — Kara Cooper scored five goals for the Eagles (7-2-2). Savonnah Hill added the other goal.

The Eagles had 32 shots on goal, while the Raiders had 12.

Mariah Brown scored the goal for the Raiders and Stephanie Cross had 11 saves.
