“Little Rock Central: 50 Years Later” (8 p.m., HBO): A half-century ago, “Little Rock” became shorthand for both racism and the civil rights struggle. In September 1957, Arkansas Gov. Orval Faubus defied the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education ruling and ordered the National Guard to bar nine black teenagers from Little Rock’s Central High School. President Eisenhower responded by sending troops to protect the students as they entered the building. It was a key event in the civil rights movement. But what about Central High today? To mark the 50th anniversary of its forced integration, Little Rock natives Brent and Craig Renaud provide a look at contemporary Central High students — black and white — in the documentary “Little Rock Central: 50 Years Later.”
“Reaper” (9 p.m., CW): A guy reluctantly goes to work for the devil.
“House” (9 p.m., Fox): When we last left “House,” our cranky doctor (Hugh Laurie) had just cleaned house. Three key members of his team exited with the boss tersely concluding, “It’s time for a change.” So now who is he going to heap all of his scorn upon?
“Cane” (10 p.m., CBS): Jimmy Smits heads an impressive cast in the intriguing new drama, “Cane.” The show delves into the power struggles of a Cuban-American family involved with a highly successful rum and sugar business in Florida. Hector Elizondo, Nestor Carbonell, Rita Moreno and Polly Walker also star.
