Top runners set in Mahoning CC meet

AUSTINTOWN — Monica Ciarniello of Lowellville, Lauren Agnew of Boardman, Samantha Hamilton of Jackson-Milton, Christina Oles of Mooney, Shannon Rech of Fitch and Lauren Esarco of Canfield, the top six runners a year ago will again race in the Mahoning County cross country meet Tuesday at Austintown Township Park.

Fitch is defending champ.

The varsity boys, girls and boys middle school runs will follow.

At last week’s Suburban League meet, Hamilton won the run, while Ciarniello was second, Agnew third and Oles sixth.

Boardman is the boys returning champ and it has Matt Moore and Sam Deskin entered.

Columbiana County Meet

COLUMBIANA — Lauren Shivers, Sarah Yerkey, Liz Shivers will try and help Salem High defend its girls title in the Columbiana County cross country championships Tuesday.

The girls varsity race is set for 4:30 p.m. with boys varsity and girls and boys middle school runs to follow.

Trumbull County Meet

MCDONALD — Woodland Park in McDonald will be the site of the 16th Trumbull County cross country meet Tuesday.

The girls varsity run is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by boys varsity, girls and boys middle school races.

The boys varsity team from Lakeview is led by Tyler Ames. Top challengers will be Heath Harris of Lakeview, Aaron Sutton of Howland and T.J. Holland of McDonald. McDonald and Maplewood should challenge for the team title.

The girls team race sill be dominated by Maplewood, Lakeview and McDonald. Warren JFK’s Audrey Maheu will be the athlete to beat.
