Motorcyclist hurt

AUSTINTOWN — Mark C. Roberts, 44, of Austintown, was in guarded condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center after his motorcycle rear-ended a car driven by Asa J. Bush, 20, of Youngstown, on I-680 South, just north of Meridian Road, about 6 p.m. Sunday. The Ohio State Highway Patrol at Canfield said that the Bush car had slowed because it had a flat tire. Roberts, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle.

Boy, 17, is stabbed

YOUNGSTOWN — Police were called to the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Health Center at 1:46 a.m. Sunday after a stabbing victim was brought there by his aunt. The boy, 17, was walking north on Hudson Avenue to his aunt’s home and talking to her on his cell phone when he was approached by two unknown men. The victim told police one man went behind him and grabbed him and the other was in front of him. The victim told the attackers he had no money and one took his cell phone. The victim was stabbed in the left upper back. The boy’s aunt became concerned when the connection was broken and he didn’t arrive at her home. She went to look for him, found him and took him to St. Elizabeth’s, where he was treated and released.

Fight between 2 women

YOUNGSTOWN — Police were called to the 2600 block of Oakwood Avenue about 2:34 a.m. Sunday concerning a fight between two women, one 20 years old and the other, 21. The 21-year-old told police she had been threatened through text messages and on MySpace by the other woman. The 20-year-old went into a bar where the 21-year-old was and wanted to start a fight, but the bartender intervened. Later Sunday morning, the 20-year-old arrived on Oakwood Avenue in one of three cars carrying 15 girls. There the two women ended up in a fight eventually broken up by a family member. The 21-year-old had visible injuries, police said. No charges were filed; the case was referred to detectives.

Flood risks, insurance

CORTLAND — Officials will provide information about Trumbull County flood risks and flood insurance when they hold an open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Trumbull County Agricultural Service Center, 520 W. Main St. Attending the open house will be representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Officials recently completed a flood insurance study, which includes flood-insurance rate maps.

Unity Day will be Oct. 1

WARREN — Someplace Safe, Inc. will be celebrating Unity Day Observance at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 in Courthouse Square in downtown Warren. Unity Day is to remember victims of domestic violence and celebrating survivors and kicks off National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. People hold candlelight ceremonies to remember women who have experienced domestic violence. This year’s theme is “Stepping into the Light”; the speaker is Magistrate Deborah Marik from Trumbull County Family Court.
