Boardman girls win title at tennis meet
DOVER — Boardman High girls tennis team put on a dominating performance over the weekend in winning the Dover Invitational Tournament.
The Spartans captured four of the five events and finished runner-up in the fifth as they totaled 28 team points to easily outdistance second place Massillon Jackson, which finished with 16.
Boardman won all three singles positions as Carolyn Jesko went 3-0 at No. 1, Emily Abraham was 3-0 at No. 2 and Annie Jesko was 3-0 at No. 3.
The No. 2 doubles team of Kayleigh Drummond and Meran Halaweh also was perfect in three matches, while the No. 1 doubles team of Randi Yasvac and Alyssa Tesone won their first two matches, but fell to Jackson in the final match.
The other teams were New Philadelphia (15 points), West Holmes (11), Dover (7), North Royalton (5), Canton McKinley (2) and Westerville South (2).
