YSU NOTEBOOK \ From the Ice Castle

Rosselli honored: Dom Rosselli, a former YSU head coach in baseball and basketball and a former assistant in football, was honored at halftime. The first 7,500 fans that entered the stadium also received a Dom Rosselli bobblehead doll as a souvenir.

Crowd count: The announced crowed was at 14,424, but that was the amount of tickets sold for the game. The exact figure in attendance was considerably smaller, probably closer to 10,000. It was one of the smaller crowds at the stadium in recent years.

Berry’s back: Senior wide receiver Rory Berry is still looking for his first touchdown reception of the season, but the veteran is making his presence known on the field. For the second straight game, Berry led the Penguins in receptions with six catches for 62 yards.

Versatile back: Junior Ferlando Williams, the Penguins’ wide receiver/quarterback, showed his abilities against the Bald Eagles. Williams rushed three times for 62 yards and caught two passes for 43 yards for 105 all-purpose yards in the game.

Defensive leaders: For the third straight week, senior linebacker Jeremiah Wright led the Penguins in tackles. Wright finished with eight tackles, four of them solos. Reserve players Nate Ward and Nick Mernedakis each had five along with sophomore Rashon Simons. Maurice Smith, a Howland native, had two tackles for losses and one sack, while junior De’Angelo Wilson came up with his second interception of the season and Nick Gooden added a fumble recovery.

Next up: The Penguins will open Gateway Conference play on Saturday when they play host to Missouri State in a 6 p.m. contest at Stambaugh Stadium.
