Lakeview volleyball team takes tourney


Haley Bates led the Bulldogs to the title, and was named tournament MVP.

CORTLAND — The Lakeview High volleyball team defeated Perry 25-16 and 25-16 in the championship match of the Blue and White Classic held Saturday at Lakeview.

Perry reached the finals by defeating Poland and Chaney.

Lakeview beat Niles and Ashtabula Edgewood before taking the measure of Perry in the finals.

Lakeview (12-2) is ranked 18th in the Division II state coaches poll.

Haley Bates lead the Bulldogs with 52 assists, six kills, three blocks and 33 service points over the course of the tournament.

For her efforts she was named tournament MVP.

Western Reserve 25-25,
Mineral Ridge 21-19

MINERAL RIDGE — Megan Renshaw had 15 points, six aces and 10 assists, Chloe Toman had eight points, one ace, one kill and three digs and Kailyn Mowery had seven points, four kills and two blocks for Western Reserve (8-5).

For Mineral Ridge, Heather Reinhart had six points, two aces and three kills.

Ledgemont 17-25-19

Heather Monoski had 15 points, three aces, four kills and three digs, Amelia Schrader had five kills and three assists and Claire Ferrando had 11 points, three aces, two kills and 12 assists.

For Ledgemont, Trisha Heller had three points, 11 kills, four digs and nine assists.

West Branch 25-19-14

BELOIT — Meagan Beachley led the Raiders with eight aces. Ashley Vaughn had five kills.

Michelle Sosnick led the Warriors with eight points, six kills, seven blocks, two assists and three digs. Karli Kitzmiller had seven points and 14 assists.

BELOIT — Katie Sellaroli scored three points and she had two kills and two assists for the Warriors. Sosnick had eight kills, two blocks and two assists.

BELOIT — Chelsea Leson paced the Raiders with 10 digs. Patty Schuster had 10 kills, while Jen Felt had 15 assists and five kills.
