Cabin in park setting for Dunlap anniversary event

XAUSTINTOWN — Birch Hill Cabin in Mill Creek Park was the setting Sept. 9 for a celebration honoring Mr. and Mrs. William Dunlap of Austintown, who were observing the 50th anniversary of their wedding that took place Sept. 7, 1947, at St. Rose Church in Girard.

Invitations for the event were extended by their daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Ken Joy of New Springfield, and their granddaughters, Tiffiny, Barbara and Kate. The couple also have two great grandchildren, Ethan and Leah.

Mrs. Dunlap, the former Barbara Makar, retired in 1998 as a cafeteria cook employed by Youngstown Board of Education.

Mr. Dunlap served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1998 as sales manager with M&M Plus in Youngstown, and is president of St. Vincent DePaul District Council.

The couple are members of St. Brendan Church.
