Thomas More 8, Thiel 6

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Cordario Collier scored on a 1-yard run on Thomas More’s first drive of the game, and the defense added a punt block for a safety. Collier ran for 132 yards on 28 carries while Thomas More (2-1, 1-1 Presidents’ Athletic Conf.) held Thiel (1-3, 0-1) to just 86 yards on 32 carries. Sean Dornbusch missed the conversion after Collier’s touchdown, but Thomas More led 8-0 after Josh Schmitz blocked a punt in the end zone that Thiel players pushed out of bounds for a safety just before halftime. Thiel had a chance to win the game late, however, when Willie Bova hit Brett Helman with a 12-yard touchdown pass with 1:55 left to make it 8-6. Bova’s two-point conversion pass was incomplete.

Malone 41, Olivet Nazarene 21

CANTON — Malone (3-1) scored the first 41 points of the game. Bernard Payton ran 16 times for 97 yards and scored touchdowns of 10 and 4 yards. Payton also caught five passes for 84 yards. Two Malone quarterbacks combined to complete 17 of 32 passes for 284 yards without an interception. Olivet Nazarene (0-3) was paced by Marshall Fraley with 20 runs for 65 yards.

Manchester 54, Hiram 14

HIRAM — Joel Hawkins ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more as Manchester opened a 40-7 lead at the break. Hawkins ran seven times for 65 yards and scored on runs of 10 and 34 yards and he completed nine of 13 passes for 170 yards including TD strikes that covered 21 and 18 yards. Trevor Henderson hit on 18 of 34 yards for 156 yards including a 37-yard scoring aerial to ignite Hiram (0-3).

Walsh 21, Quincy 7

QUINCY, ILL. — Walsh’s Clinton Blossomgame rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown on 37 carries to lead the Cavaliers. Walsh quarterback Marc Pullen threw two touchdown passes, a 4-yarder to James Williams in the second quarter and a 28-yarder to Rob Lash in the third. Pullen was 16-of-26 for 229 yards. Lash was Walsh’s (3-1) leading receiver with 96 yards on four catches.

Alleghany 24, Carnegie Mellon 21

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Gators were able to force five second-half turnovers, leading the way over the Tartans. Allegheny forced four fumbles and an interception, out-scoring CM 10-7 in the second half to earn the victory, their sixth straight in the series. Carnegie Mellon took the opening kickoff 80 yards on 13 plays, scoring when Travis Sivek rushed in from 1 yard away, for a 7-0 advantage. Allegheny answered with a scoring drive of their own, using a 46-yard kickoff return by Jim Lieb.
