Woman jailed on felonious-assault charge

YOUNGSTOWN — A South Jackson Street woman was in the Mahoning County Jail, charged with felonious assault, accused of stabbing a man in the arm.

The victim, Damon Pruitt, 36, of South Truesdale Avenue, told police that he was on a porch on South Jackson early Friday speaking with a woman there when Shirley North and her son began to argue with him.

He said he got off the porch, and North pulled out a knife, stabbing him in the upper arm.

Police found North, 39, her son and another woman walking down the street.

North told police that Pruitt approached them and began to fight.

North was charged with felonious assault. She also had two unrelated warrants charging her with domestic violence from Youngstown.

A police report says Pruitt was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center, but the hospital had no information on him late Friday.
