Theater alliance to raise fund for AIDS charity

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Area Community Theatre Alliance has teamed up with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a New York City based organization that raises funds for those suffering from AIDS and AIDS related illnesses. The group, founded in 1988, has raised in excess of $130 million.

J.E. Ballantyne Jr., YACTA president, said his group was searching for an organization to align itself with for fund raising purposes, and BC/EFA was a natural choice because of the common bond of the performing arts.

Ballantyne said that YACTA will begin fundraising within the next couple of months.
