Police department chaplains are charged with dual duties — ministering to officers and serving as a community resource.

The Rev. Gwen Alexander represents a new chapter in the Youngstown Police Chaplaincy Corps. She is among six women in the class of 10, who will graduate Thursday. The women’s participation is a first for the corps.
