Geauga Lake to become only a water park

AURORA, Ohio (AP) — The Geauga Lake amusement park will close, leaving only a water park at the lakeside location, the park’s owner Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. said Friday.

The change in Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom to a water park only will be effective with the 2008 season.

“We have concluded that its future should be entirely as a water park,” said Dick Kinzel, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cedar Fair Entertainment based in Sandusky.

Wildwater Kingdom opened in 2005 at Geauga Lake, located about 20 miles southeast of Cleveland.

Some of the rides at Geauga Lake will be moved to other Cedar Fair parks, which include Cedar Point in Sandusky; Kings Island north of Cincinnati; Kings Dominion in Richmond, Va., and Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif.
