Police: Fatal crash ends high-speed chase

CINCINNATI (AP) — Police in Cincinnati say a man has died in a crash that occurred while he was being pursued by officers.

Police say the high-speed chase began Wednesday night when 34-year-old William Thornton’s vehicle crossed a double yellow line and nearly struck a sheriff’s cruiser in downtown Cincinnati.

Deputies say they tried to stop the vehicle but Thornton sped away.

Investigators say Thornton lost control of his SUV on the city’s west side and struck several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
