Niles girl attacked in broad daylight
NILES – Police Chief Bruce Simeone is cautioning parents not to allow their children to walk alone in isolated areas because of the danger of being attacked.
His warning comes in the wake of a Wednesday afternoon attack of a 14-year-old girl along the railroad tracks between North Main Street and Robbins Avenue.
Simeone said the girl was grabbed about 3:15 p.m. by a naked man who forced her to take her clothes off. It is unclear, the chief noted, if she was sexually assaulted. She managed to break free and seek help at the General Electric Lamp Plant on Federal Street.
The assailant is described as being in his 30s and thinly built with light brown short hair.
