GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Greenville Symphony Orchestra will present pianist Matt McCright and soprano Nora Drake Saeler in “Music of the New World: Original American Music.” The fundraiser will be at 8 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium of Greenville High School. Both McCright and Drake Saeler are alumni of Westminster College.

The program will feature two world premiere piano pieces specifically penned for this event by American composers Gregory Hutter and Daniel Nass. The program will include “Somewhere” from “West Side Story,” “Good Night My Someone” from “The Music Man” and “Summertime” from “Porgy and Bess.” Tickets at the door the night of the concert are $10; children and students will be admitted free.

HGTV gardening expert
to speak to Fellows

YOUNGSTOWN — Mill Creek MetroParks and the Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens are presenting an evening with HGTV’s Rebecca Kolls at Fellows Riverside Gardens at 5 p.m. Oct. 4.

Host of the gardening series “Rebecca’s Garden,” Kolls also serves as gardening and lifestyle contributor for ABC’s “Good Morning America.” In her lecture, “Growing Green,” Kolls will share her knowledge and her “get your hands dirty” approach to gardening.

Cost of the wine reception at 5 p.m. and lecture at 7 p.m. is $25 or $20 for FFRG members. The fee to attend only the lecture is $15 or $10 for FFRG members. Call (330) 740-7116 to register.

YWCA accepting entries
for annual art show

YOUNGSTOWN — The YWCA of Youngstown is accepting entries for its “Women Artists: A Celebration” annual art show.

Women 18 years and older are eligible to enter original work, including paintings, drawings, graphics, photography, sculptures, fibers, ceramics, metal work and computer-generated art. The show will accept only CD or slide entries. There is a maximum of five entries per artist and a nonrefundable fee of $7 per entry. Deadline for entries is Oct. 29.

Laura Domencic, director of Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, will be the juror. Approximately $1,000 in merit prizes will be awarded, including an award to a local artist currently residing within 40 miles of the YWCA of Youngstown and a YWCA Award to an entry that reflects the mission of the YWCA, which is “eliminating racism and empowering women.”

The show will be held at the Trumbull Branch of the Butler Institute of American Art in Howland. The exhibit will be available for public viewing Jan. 19 to Feb. 9, 2008.

Suzanne Anzellotti-Ray and Brenda Myers Cohen are the co-chairs for the 26th annual event.
