South Side pit bull owner charged

YOUNGSTOWN — Sherry Sellers, 44, of 130 E. Warren Ave. was issued a citation charging her with not having registration for a vicious dog, a pit bull, and failure to have liability insurance for the animal. She was arraigned Wednesday in municipal court and will be back in court Oct. 9 for a pretrial. Sean Toohey, a Mahoning County deputy dog warden, said the pit bull at Sellers’ home is owned by her son. Toohey said a mixed Cane Corso (Italian mastiff breed) taken from the East Warren house on Tuesday was returned to Sellers after she purchased a license for the dog. Initially, Toohey cited a woman who identified herself Tuesday as Lacreshia May, 27. He said Sellers later showed up and was determined to be the resident, not May. May, who lives on the West Side, told The Vindicator that her name was given to Toohey and police by her sister. May said Sellers is her mother.
