The Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic was the first private, freestanding community-based alcoholism treatment facility in the nation. Here is more information about the clinic:

It has facilities in Youngstown, Austintown, Howland and Dublin, Ohio.

Founded in 1946, it was first named the Lincoln Avenue Clinic and then the Alcoholic Clinic of Youngstown.

It is named after Neil Kennedy, who started the first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Youngstown and was the clinic’s first executive director.

In 1999, Neil Kennedy Clinic became a subsidiary of Gateway Rehabilitation Center, a national alcoholism and drug addiction treatment organization.
