Judge Cronin gets out of jail

YOUNGSTOWN — Maureen A. Cronin, a retired common pleas judge convicted of operating a vehicle impaired, has served her five days in the Mahoning County misdemeanant jail. Cronin, 54, of Canfield Road reported to the jail at 6:47 a.m. last Friday and was released at 6:40 a.m. today, the jail said. Judge Scott D. Hunter, assigned to Mahoning County Area Court in Canfield said Cronin opted to serve the jail time first at the misdemeanant jail and then proceed to 18 days electronically monitored house arrest. The judge said the 18 days will not have to be served if she does 30-days in-house at a treatment center. Cronin pleaded guilty last Wednesday to OVI, her second since 2005. Cronin was arrested by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on Sept. 5 after being pulled over for weaving. She refused to have her sobriety tested, as she did in 2005.
