ABOUT THE WRITER

Reporter Marilyn Geewax’s grandfather, Frank Grzywacz, came from Poland to the Campbell Works not long after Sheet and Tube’s founding in 1900. Her parents still live in Campbell.

The 1973 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State and her master’s degree from Georgetown University. She also studied for one year at Harvard as a Nieman Fellow.

Geewax worked for the Akron Beacon Journal in the early 1980s. She was hired by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1985 as a business reporter. In 1989, she became a member of the editorial board and wrote a column that frequently appeared in the Vindicator.

Since 1999, she has been the national economics correspondent in the Washington Bureau of Cox Newspapers, which owns the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She lives in Chevy Chase, MD.
