Changing names

History of Sky Bank in the area:

1902: Citizens Bank founded in Salineville in Columbiana County.

1982: Citizens creates a holding company, Citizens Bancshares, and begins a rapid expansion by buying banks in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

1994: Citizens acquires Firestone Bank of Lisbon and New Waterford Bank.

1996: Citizens acquires Lowellville-based Western Reserve Bank of Ohio.

1998: Citizens merges with Mid Am Inc. of Bowling Green to create Sky Financial Group, which was based in Bowling Green.

1998: Sky acquires First Western Bancorp of New Castle.

1999: Sky acquires Mahoning National Bank of Youngstown.

2004: Sky acquires Second National Bank of Warren.

2006: Huntington Bancshares of Columbus announces it is buying Sky.
