McDONALD — The McDonald Board of Education adopted new policies Monday on hazing, bullying and the public’s right-to-know to comply with new state requirements.

Stipulations under the new bullying policy include engaging in such activities by use of a computer. The superintendent or his designee must provide the school board president with semiannual written reports of all reported incidents of bullying and post the report on the district’s Web site.

District employees who are in contact with children are to be trained on the hazing and bullying policy.

The right-to-know policy pertains to the board’s supporting the “right of people to know about the program and services of their schools and makes efforts to disseminate appropriate information.”

Each building principal is authorized and expected to keep the school’s community informed about the school’s programs and activities. The release of information districtwide is to be coordinated by the superintendent.

Records pertaining to individual pupils and other confidential material are not released for inspection.

The board also approved a fiscal year 2008 spending plan for the 12-month period of July to June 2008. The $7.497 million budget is 3 percent higher than last year due to normal salary increases and benefits.
