West Branch Hall to induct 5
The inductees or their
representatives will be guests at Friday’s football game.

BELOIT — Five former West Branch High School students will be the latest people added to the school’s Hall of Fame as part of two days’ worth of activities, starting Thursday.
The five will be part of the West Branch Hall of Fame, started about 10 years ago with more than 50 members who have been recognized for their accomplishments in athletics and service to the community.
The inductees are Jim Chain, Denny Lane, Dick Runzo, Rodger Sharp and Russ Kring. Runzo, who died in 1969 during the Vietnam War, will be honored posthumously.
Kicking off the events is a dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tall Oaks Banquet Center, 230 S. 12th St., in Sebring. Cost is $15 per person and reservations can be made by contacting Mona McNeely in the superintendent's office at (330) 938-9324.
Other plans
The inductees will be special guests at Friday’s West Branch v. Louisville football game, where they will be introduced at 7:15 p.m. before the game at Clinton Heacock Stadium, as well as during halftime.
After the game, there will be a free reception hosted by the West Branch Alumni Association in the Meiter Athletic building.
A four-person golf scramble at Westville Lakes Golf Course is to get under way Saturday, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $50 per person, which includes golf, two meals and prizes. To register, contact Lane at Westville Lake Country Club at (330) 537-4042.
Also Saturday, there will be a dance from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the West Branch Booster building on U.S. Route 62. The event, sponsored by the alumni association, will feature a disc jockey and is $5 per person.
