Fire strikes two Youngstown homes


YOUNGSTOWN — A firefighter working his way to the attic of a house at 548 W. Glenaven Ave. was injured when he fell through stairs Sunday afternoon, the fire department said.

The firefighter was checked out by a doctor and told to go home.

Two miniature Dobermans were pulled from the basement unharmed. The fire, which did about $7,500 in damage, started at and spread from 544 W. Glenaven Ave. It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone had been living in the house where the fire started. Damage to the structure was listed as $2,000, a total loss. The cause remains under investigation.
