POLAND — Blake Rhein, Ryan Storkel and Brian Garcar scored goals as Poland handed Lakeview its first loss of the season. Garcar, a senior midfielder, also had an assist, as did senior forward Alan Gavalos. Rhein is a senior forward and Storkel is a sophomore midfielder. Andrew McElroy had 10 saves for Poland (6-1-1), which outshot Lakeview 10-6. Greg Pecorelli had three saves for Lakeview (7-1-1). JVs: Poland 3-2

CANFIELD — The teams played to a tie for the second time this season. The first time the schools battled to a 2-2 tie. Dan Miller had seven saves for the Tigers (4-2-3, 3-0-3 MAC). Eric Clayton had six for the Cardinals (4-0-5, 3-0-2). JVs: Canfield 1-0

Mooney 1, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 1

STRUTHERS — Senior Tim Beck scored for Mooney on an assist from junior Rob Fox with nine minutes remaining in the first half to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead before SVSM’s Igor Ilibasic scored on a cross just off the fingertips of goalie Jon Critell as time expired. Brian McCausland assisted on Ilibasic’s goal. Critell had six saves for Mooney (7-0-1), while Adam Toman had eight stops for the Irish (4-2-4). JVs: Tie, 1-1

Crestview 1, Waterloo 0

EAST FAIRFIELD — Greg Bing scored the only goal in the game on an assist from Nicholas Magill. Crestview (7-1-1) had 11 steals while Waterloo (4-2) had nine.

South Range 1, East Liverpool 1, tie

NORTH LIMA — Alex Baker scored on an assist from Nathan Lutze to give South Range (3-5-1) a tie. Danny Vallero’s goal gave East Liverpool a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Grand River Academy 4,
Heartland Christian 3

COLUMBIANA — Un Ryoag-Jang scored two goals for Grand River Academy, while M.J. O’Neal and Danny Hannun added one goal apiece. Kyler Knepper scored two goals for Heartland (9-2) while A.J. Steiner had one and Treg Lunger had an assist. Heartland took 30 shots, Grand River 21. Heartland goalies Tyler Burgess, Aaron Shields and Chris Palmer combined for 13 saves.

Mathews 4 Sharpsville 1

VIENNA — Freshmen Mike Ponikvar and Eathan Fiest scored twice for the Mustangs, while Darren McAninch tallied for Sharpsville. Nathan Bohach had seven saves for the Mustangs, while Sharpsville's three keepers totaled 12 saves. Mathews (3-2) led 3-1 at the half.

West Branch 2, United 1

BELOIT — Jarod Cameron and Logan Schafer each scored a goal for the Warriors (5-2). Brian Snoddy and Schafer had an assist apiece. Steve Baker scored United’s (1-6) goal on an assist from Calvin Lockard. The Warriors had 25 shots on goal; the Golden Eagles had one.

Southeast 4, Newton Falls 2

NEWTON FALLS — Nick Phillips scored two goals for the Pirates. Zach Meluch and Nathan Harsh had one apiece. Zak Verrona had an assist. Morritz Barrack and Mike Layshock scored a goal apiece for the Tigers (4-5). Josh Banyas had an assist. The Pirates had eight shots on goal and the Tigers had four. Dave Pagano had six saves for the Tigers.

Ursuline 2, Poland 1

YOUNGSTOWN — Senior Hannah Snyder and junior Kelsey Price had the goals for Ursuline (4-0-1) before Poland’s Taylor Marucci tallied for the Bulldogs (3-2-2). Senior Dana Hinebaugh assisted on Snyder’s goal, while Price’s goal came with help from senior Katelyn Tondo-Steele. Ursuline goalie Nikka Bonamase had 14 saves, while Poland goalie Erin Eckman stopped six shots.

Warren JFK 0, Kennedy Catholic 0

HERMITAGE — Helena Demacopolous made nine saves to lead JFK (4-2-2), while Ashley Kirkpatrick had 14 for Kennedy Catholic (1-3-1), which was outshot 26-9.

Warren Harding 3, Ashtabula Lakeside 0

ASHTABULA — Junior Katie Polenick, sophomore Rachel Lamarco and senior Elena Ware scored a goal apiece for Harding (7-1). Harding junior goalie Avrielle Merten had 10 saves, while Lakeside goalie Erika Snyder had 18 stops.

Newton Falls 3, Southeast 1

NEWTON FALLS — Seniors Julie Davis and Lauren Mauric and junior Katie LeMasters had the goals for Newton Falls. Danielle Kaley had the lone tally for Southeast. Newton Falls sophomore goalie Rebeca Humberger had eight saves, while Olivia Ciecerko had 10 stops for Southeast.

West Branch 8, United 0

BELOIT — Taylor Krins scored three goals, while Karen Steiger added two and Madison Wallace, Courtney Salvino and Caitlin Russell one apiece for the Warriors (5-2-0).

Mooney 0, Bexley 0

STRUTHERS — Mooney, rated No. 4 in Division II, and Bexley (5-0), the No. 2-ranked squad, battled to a scoreless tie. Mooney (2-1-2) had seven shots on goal and the Lions had four. Meagan McGlaughlin had four saves for the Cardinals, while Katie Sarvas had two saves for the Lions.
