The company: Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, one of Russia’s biggest steelmakers, is considering an Ohio site for a $1 billion steel mill.

The location: About 600 acres near Haverhill along the Ohio River just south of Portsmouth. Neighbors would be a Sun Coke Energy coke plant and a Sunoco chemical plant.

Jobs: About 1,000 jobs, making it Scioto County’s biggest private employer. Southern Ohio Medical Center is the county’s biggest employer, with about 3,000 jobs.
